Truck smog check in the Inland Empire: city-by-city guide

Mobile truck smog check in the Inland Empire: Mira Loma, Jurupa Valley, Moreno Valley, Perris, Temecula, Chino, Corona, Victorville. Book at your yard.

Short answer: A mobile truck smog check in the Inland Empire is a CARB Clean Truck Check done where your truck parks. Diesel Dynamix drives to warehouses, yards, jobsites and homes in Mira Loma, Jurupa Valley, Moreno Valley, Perris, Temecula, Chino, Corona, Victorville and the rest of Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Your engine model year decides which test the truck gets.

What is a truck smog check in the Inland Empire?

In the Inland Empire, "truck smog check" almost always means CARB's Clean Truck Check. It covers most diesel and alternative-fuel vehicles over 14,000 lb GVWR that operate in California, including out-of-state and international trucks that run through the region's warehouses.

Each covered truck must be reported in CARB's CTC-VIS system, have CARB's annual compliance fee paid and pass its test by the deadline shown in CTC-VIS. Most covered vehicles currently test twice a year. Under CARB's original rule, OBD-equipped vehicles move to four tests a year from October 1, 2027, though a bill has proposed cutting testing to once a year. Check CTC-VIS for your own dates.

Which test does my truck need?

The test depends on the engine model year and fuel type, not the city:

  • 2013 and newer diesel: CARB-verified OBD test.
  • 2012 and older diesel without OBD: smoke opacity test plus a visual inspection.
  • 2018 and newer alternative fuel: CARB-verified OBD test.
  • 2017 and older alternative fuel without OBD: visual inspection.

Inland Empire fleets often have a mix. A yard with new day cabs and a couple of older dump trucks needs both test types, and we bring both on the same visit.

Where do you do mobile truck smog checks in the Inland Empire?

We cover the whole region. Here is a city-by-city look at the places we drive to most. For the overview, see the Inland Empire page.

Truck smog check in Mira Loma and Jurupa Valley

Mira Loma, now part of Jurupa Valley, is one of the densest warehouse areas in Southern California, along the 60 and the 15. Trucks there run in and out of distribution centers all day. We test at the dock or the trailer yard, so trucks keep moving. See Riverside for nearby coverage.

Truck emissions test in Moreno Valley

Moreno Valley has large distribution buildings along the 215 and the 60. A truck emissions test in Moreno Valley can be done at the warehouse yard or where an owner-operator parks at home.

Truck smog check in Perris

Perris sits south of Moreno Valley on the 215, with new logistics buildings and plenty of tractor parking. We test both company fleets and single trucks there.

Truck smog check in Temecula

Temecula is at the south end of Riverside County on the 15. Many trucks there are construction, landscaping and local delivery vehicles. We test at jobsites, shops and homes.

Truck smog check in Chino

Chino sits next to Ontario and has a long history of dairies, farms and distribution yards. Agricultural trucks over 14,000 lb can fall under the program, so check CARB's rules for your vehicle. Chino is close to our Ontario coverage.

Truck smog check in Corona, CA

Corona runs along the 91 and the 15, with industrial parks, contractors and haulers. A truck smog check in Corona works the same as anywhere else: we come to the truck and run the test it needs.

Truck smog check in Victorville

Victorville is in the High Desert, up the Cajon Pass on the 15. Many trucks there run long haul or work in construction and aggregate. We drive up for scheduled visits. See San Bernardino for the county page.

Fontana, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga and Rialto

The I-10 corridor is the busiest truck area in the region. Each city has its own page with local detail: Fontana, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga and Rialto.

Why do Inland Empire fleets use mobile testing?

Inland Empire fleets use mobile testing because trucks earn money on the road, not in line at a test site. Warehouse and drayage schedules are tight, and a trip to a test site eats into a shift.

With mobile testing:

  • The truck is tested at the yard, warehouse, jobsite or home.
  • Several trucks can be tested in one visit.
  • Early-morning visits let trucks test before the first load.
  • Each truck gets a record by VIN and a next due date.

Out-of-state trucks that deliver to Inland Empire warehouses are covered by the program too. Our guide to out-of-state trucks explains what they need.

How do I get ready for the test?

Report the truck in CTC-VIS and pay CARB's compliance fee first. If you have not done that yet, our CTC-VIS registration guide walks through it. Then:

  • Have keys, cab access and someone we can reach.
  • Fix any check engine light before the visit. A lit MIL fails the OBD test.
  • Drive the truck normally in the days before so readiness monitors can set. Clearing codes right before a test can leave monitors not ready.
  • For a smoke test, have the engine warmed up.

What happens if a truck fails?

A failed truck needs repair and then a retest. Common causes are a check engine light, readiness monitors not set, DPF or emissions faults, and tampered or deleted equipment.

We do not do repairs. We explain the result in plain English so your shop knows where to start. Deleted or tampered systems fail and are illegal. Read what to do after a failed Clean Truck Check for next steps.

Missing a deadline can lead to a DMV registration hold for California-registered trucks, plus CARB citations and penalties.

  • Answer CTC-VIS questions and explain results clearly.
  • Give the next due date for each truck and send reminders.
  • Set up recurring fleet testing visits with records per truck and VIN.

Yes. We test trucks at distribution centers, trailer yards and homes in Perris, so the truck does not have to leave.

Is a truck emissions test in Moreno Valley an OBD test or a smoke test?
