Clean Truck Check near the Port of Long Beach
Diesel Dynamix tests Port of Long Beach trucks on site for CARB's Clean Truck Check. We come to your yard, staging lot or truck parking, so a container truck emissions test in Long Beach does not cost you a turn.
POLB container trucks get the same CARB tests as any heavy-duty truck:
- OBD test for 2013 and newer diesel and 2018 and newer alternative-fuel engines.
- Smoke opacity test plus visual inspection for 2012 and older diesel engines without OBD.
- Visual inspection for 2017 and older alternative-fuel trucks without OBD.
After each test, you get the result in plain English and the next due date. If a truck fails, we tell you the likely cause so your mechanic knows where to start. We do not do repairs, and we never help with DPF deletes. Deleted or tampered systems fail and are illegal. More on that in DPF deletes and smoke tests.
Carson yards, West Long Beach and the pier area
Most of our port work happens where drayage trucks actually park. That means container yards in Carson and Rancho Dominguez, lots in West Long Beach, and truck parking around the pier area and downtown Long Beach. We also cover Wilmington and lots near Terminal Island.
For drayage fleets in Long Beach, a typical visit looks like this:
- Send us the truck list with VINs and engine years.
- We quote per truck and plan the visit around your dispatch.
- We test every truck in one stop, early in the morning if that suits you.
- You get records per truck and VIN, and reminders before the next round.
Owner-operators can book a single truck too. If your trucks also run local work around the city, see our Long Beach service area page. For larger operations, see fleet testing.
POLB drayage truck requirements and CARB deadlines
Clean Truck Check is run by CARB, not the Port of Long Beach. The port's own Clean Truck Program has separate requirements for trucks entering its terminals, so confirm those with the port. For CARB, drayage trucks need to be reported in CTC-VIS, have CARB's annual compliance fee paid there, and pass each required test on time.
For 2026, most covered trucks test twice a year. Under CARB's original rule, OBD-equipped trucks move to four tests a year from October 1, 2027. A bill has proposed cutting testing to once a year, so watch for changes. Your exact drayage truck Clean Truck Check deadline is shown in CTC-VIS, and we give you the next due date after each test.
Missing a deadline can put a DMV registration hold on California-registered trucks and lead to CARB citations and penalties. Read what to do about a missed deadline or call (858) 342-8328.
