Clean Truck Check in El Centro
Yes, you can get Clean Truck Check in El Centro without leaving town. We are a mobile tester and we drive out to the Imperial Valley to test trucks at the yard, the field or the border lot.
We test across El Centro, including the 92243 area, and along the I-8, Highway 86 and Highway 111. Truck emissions testing in El Centro follows the same CARB rules as the rest of the state:
- 2013 and newer diesel and 2018 and newer alternative-fuel: a CARB OBD test.
- 2012 and older diesel without OBD: a diesel smoke test with a visual inspection.
- 2017 and older alternative-fuel without OBD: a visual inspection.
Because we travel to the Imperial Valley, grouping trucks into one visit makes scheduling easier. Our price depends on truck count, test type and location. Call or text (858) 342-8328, message us on WhatsApp, or book online.
Calexico and cross-border trucks
Calexico carriers can get Clean Truck Check at their yard or lot near the border. We test in the 92231 area and at lots near the Calexico East Port of Entry, where much of the commercial truck traffic crosses.
The program covers international trucks that operate in California, including Mexico-registered trucks. If a Mexican truck drives in California and falls under the program, it needs testing like any other covered truck. Out-of-state trucks are covered too. Read more in our guide on out-of-state trucks.
Owners report each vehicle in CARB's CTC-VIS system and pay CARB's annual compliance fee there. We help with CTC-VIS questions and explain results in plain English after every test.
If a truck fails, it needs repair and a retest. Common causes are a check engine light, readiness monitors that are not set, DPF faults and tampered or deleted equipment. We do not repair trucks, but we tell you what the result means.
Farm, hay and produce haulers in the Imperial Valley
Imperial Valley agriculture runs on trucks, and many farm trucks over 14,000 lb GVWR fall under Clean Truck Check. For edge cases, check CARB's rules for your vehicle or ask us.
We can test at the field, the hay yard or the packing shed so trucks do not leave work during harvest. That includes:
- Hay trucks and bale haulers.
- Produce haulers working out of packing sheds.
- Older farm trucks that need a smoke opacity test.
We cover the whole valley: Brawley, Imperial, Holtville, Heber, Seeley, Westmorland, Calipatria and Niland, as well as El Centro and Calexico.
Most covered trucks currently test twice a year. Under CARB's original rule, OBD-equipped trucks move to four tests a year from October 1, 2027, and a bill has proposed once a year, so that may change. We give you the next due date after every test and can send reminders. See which vehicles need Clean Truck Check.
