Clean Truck Check in San Diego
Clean Truck Check in San Diego can be done at your yard, jobsite or home. We are a mobile tester, so we drive to the truck and test it on site anywhere in San Diego County.
Whether you call it truck emissions testing, a truck smog check or a diesel truck smog check in San Diego, the test depends on the engine:
- 2013 and newer diesel and 2018 and newer alternative-fuel: a CARB OBD test.
- 2012 and older diesel without OBD: a smoke opacity test plus a visual inspection.
- 2017 and older alternative-fuel without OBD: a visual inspection.

Otay Mesa, San Ysidro and the South Bay border crossing
Otay Mesa is one of the busiest truck areas in San Diego, and we test there often. Yards and lots near the Otay Mesa Port of Entry, in the 92154 area, can book Clean Truck Check without moving trucks out of the line-up. We also cover San Ysidro in 92173.
Cross-border carriers should know that the program covers international trucks, including Mexico-registered trucks, that operate in California. Out-of-state trucks are covered too. Our guide on out-of-state trucks explains the basics.
For truck emissions testing in the South Bay, we drive to Chula Vista and National City yards, transload lots and contractor yards. If your trucks are spread between a border lot and a yard further north, tell us both addresses and we will plan the visit.
After testing, owners report vehicles in CARB's CTC-VIS system. We help with CTC-VIS questions if the system gives you trouble.
North County and East County fleets
We bring the same on-site testing to North County and East County San Diego. Fleets and owner-operators do not have to drive into the city.
In North County San Diego we test in Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, Oceanside, Carlsbad, Poway, Ramona and Fallbrook. In East County we cover El Cajon (including 92020), Santee, Lakeside, La Mesa, Lemon Grove and Spring Valley.
Construction companies can book a dump truck smog check at the jobsite. Fleet emissions testing in San Diego includes:
